UP Triple Murder Case: Key Accused Killed in Encounter, Two Cops Injured
In a dramatic early morning operation in Bulandshahr , police shot dead a key accused linked to a brutal triple murder that had shocked the Khurja region earlier this week. The incident, which unfolded near the Dharau police outpost , also left two police personnel injured , underlining the intensity of the confrontation.
The accused, identified as Jeetu Saini , had been on the run after allegedly opening fire at a birthday party on April 25 , killing three young men from the same family. With a ₹50,000 bounty on his head, he had become one of the most wanted figures in the district.
According to officials, the encounter began when a police team conducting routine checks tried to stop two men riding a scooter. Instead of complying, the suspects attempted to flee and opened fire . What followed was a high-speed chase that ended on Jhajhar Road , where the accused again allegedly fired at the team.
The police retaliated in self-defence , leading to Saini sustaining bullet injuries, while his accomplice managed to escape under the cover of darkness . Despite being rushed to a nearby health centre and later referred to a district hospital, he was declared dead .
The encounter was not without consequences. Two policemen were injured , while bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of SHO Ramphal Singh and a SWAT team member, a close call that could have turned far more serious.
At the scene, police recovered an illegal .32 bore pistol , cartridges, and a scooter without a number plate, pointing to a planned attempt to evade identification.
This comes just a day after two other accused were arrested in the same case following another encounter, signalling a rapid police crackdown. So far, five accused are in custody , while efforts continue to nab the remaining suspects.
The case traces back to the night of April 25 , when a dispute at a birthday celebration turned deadly, leaving three youths dead , Amardeep (30), Manish (28), and Akash (18) .
For residents of Khurja, the past few days have been marked by fear and tension. Officials, however, say the law and order situation is under control , even as the investigation continues.
