NCB Brings Drug Trafficker Salim Dola to Mumbai After Extradition
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday brought alleged drug trafficker Mohammad Salim Dola to Mumbai from Delhi, following his extradition from Turkey , officials said.
Dola, a known associate of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim , arrived in the city on an evening flight and was taken to the NCB’s south Mumbai office for further questioning. He is expected to be produced before a local court on Thursday.
The 59-year-old was earlier brought to Delhi after Indian authorities secured his return from Turkey. He had been arrested there based on an Interpol Red Notice issued at India’s request in March 2024.
A Delhi court had granted the NCB a two-day transit remand to shift him to Mumbai, where several cases against him are registered. Dola had been absconding for years and was wanted in multiple narcotics trafficking cases across Maharashtra and Gujarat.
According to officials, his criminal record spans over two decades and includes alleged involvement in high-value drug seizures involving heroin, charas, mephedrone, mandrax and methamphetamine.
He faces charges under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Authorities said further investigation is underway.
