BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday alleged that a “Bulldozer Rule” was being enforced in Telangana under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing the Congress government of arbitrarily demolishing houses belonging to the poor.

He was speaking during the ‘Musi Dandi March’ padayatra organised to express solidarity with residents affected by demolitions at Hyder Shah Kote and Madhu Park Ridge Apartments in the Rajendranagar constituency. The march covered approximately three-and-a-half kilometres. KTR, accompanied by former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and other party leaders, interacted with and heard the grievances of thousands of affected families.

Addressing a public meeting, KTR termed the demolition of houses belonging to poor and middle-class families in the name of the Musi project as unjust. He criticised the Congress leadership, stating that while Rahul Gandhi speaks against the BJP’s bulldozer politics nationally, he remains silent on the demolitions taking place in Telangana.

Alleging that the Chief Minister’s focus was on demolishing homes, selling land and promoting real estate interests, KTR questioned the move to declare certain apartments illegal under the Musi buffer zone . He pointed out that the same apartments had received approvals during an earlier Congress government and asked why no action was being taken against the officials who granted those permissions.

He further said that while thousands of families were being displaced, the government was spending heavily on the construction of official residences.

Referring to the previous BRS government’s plans, KTR said a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Musi river beautification had been prepared at an estimated cost of ₹16,000 crore , ensuring that not a single house would be affected. The proposal also included the construction of roads and flyovers. In contrast, he alleged that the present government was pursuing a ₹1.5 lakh crore project that would lead to the demolition of thousands of houses.

KTR claimed that demolitions had become a state-wide policy of the Revanth Reddy government, citing similar developments in Ramagundam, Mahabubnagar and Khammam. He accused the government of putting the lives of the poor at risk to facilitate contracts and increase land values.

Appealing to the affected families not to lose hope, KTR urged them to protect their homes and properties for the next two years. He assured them of the party’s support in legal battles and stated that if the BRS returned to power within two years, it would ensure that no one lost their house or land.

He called on residents not to succumb to alleged threats or monetary inducements and to remain united in their struggle. Describing the situation as one that required safeguarding the state from “land sharks,” KTR demanded that the Congress government immediately halt the demolitions and respond to the concerns of the affected families.
